Our commitment for 2018 is to bring our members great social events, our social committee nailed it on this one.
The SaddleBrooke Ranch Pickleball Association held its second annual Chili Cook-Off and Social Play on October 29, 2018.
We had 30 members participate in the social play activities on the courts that was organized by Corine Sturdivant and Lorraine Smith.
This event was set up where members from all skill levels played together and did the “doe see doe” to move from one court to another. The weather was perfect and members had a great time and enjoyed the opportunity to play and meet members they had not played with before.
The event was not over yet; as our members finished up playing on the courts, Susan and Gary Engebretson were getting their home ready for the big chili cook-off.
Susan and Gary welcomed 68 members into their home where members participated in bringing side dishes, salads and desserts and we had eight members enter the chili cook-off with their delicious chili recipes.
Members lined up, sampled each chili in the cook-off and voted on the chili they liked the best (not an easy task as all the chili was great). When the smoke cleared and votes were counted the winners were announced. First place went to Mike Stoben, second place went to Beth Keefer and third place went to Lorraine Smith. The evening continued with members filling up on more of the delicious chili, sides and desserts and enjoyed each other’s company socializing together.
Big thanks to our social committee for bringing us another great event; thanks to Mary Stolze, Susan Engebretson, Sally Grasso Corine Sturdivant, and Lorraine Smith for their help with organizing the activities. Special thanks to Susan and Gary Engebretson for opening their home to our members.
