The fall softball season ended in mid-December. We had 22 teams playing in seven different leagues. Check out the results:
Monday Community We had six teams and three finished in first place with identical records of 5 wins and 3 losses. Granite Restoration, managed by Steve Schneck, Kerry Blount-Long Realty with Jim Smith at the helm and Leah Kari-Health Insurance, led by Jason Noffsinger, were all champs. Rounding out the results are Manny’s Organization Station, managed by Dave Fortis, finishing with 4 wins and 4 losses; Tri-Community Lock & Safe, manager Tom Klem, ended with 3 wins and 5 losses. Our last place finisher was DS Builders & Remodeling, with 2 wins and 6 losses, managed by Rich Battagello.
Monday Recreation Our two teams both ended with a .500 record; 4 wins with 4 losses. Patrick Shaffer DDS, managed by Janice Mihora and SaddleBrooke Remodeling, led by Charles Hendryx, were separated by 12 runs over the season.
Tuesday Community Shifren Physical Therapy had Mike Hamm as their skipper and ran off with the championship with 6 wins, only 3 losses. Second place went to Pride Mechanical with 3 wins and 6 losses; lineups were created by Jim Takacs. (Only 12 runs separated these two teams in total run output.)
Tuesday Competitive These three teams ended up with close records. The crown went to SaddleBrooke TWO, managed by Charlie LaNeve, with their 6 wins and 5 loss totals. In second place, Harold Weinenger was captain of Players Pub, with 5 wins and 5 losses. Third place went to Stifel Nicolaus, skippered by Paul Auster. This team had 6 wins but also 7 losses.
Wednesday No games scheduled. This is the day players practice.
Thursday Coyote Our first-place team was Ray Szpakowski, CPA, managed by Tom Klein, with a final tally of 6 wins and 3 losses. In second place, led by Ron Finelli, was Sheftel Dermatology, with 3 wins and 6 losses.
Friday Competitive Stone Canyon Painting eeked out a first-place finish with 5 wins and 3 losses. Captain was Terry Mihora. Second place went to Shelves That Slide, led by manager Buzz Schmitt, with 6 wins but also 4 losses. These sluggers had 182 total runs scored, the most of the three teams in this league. Robson Communities was our third-place finisher with 3 wins and 7 losses. Terry McNellis drew up the lineups.
Friday Community Two teams finished in a first-place tie with 4 wins and 2 losses. Our champs are Sunshine Experts with Dave Fortis managing, and The Charles Company with Debbie Seguin as skipper. Third place went to SaddleBrooke One with 3 wins and 3 losses. The manager was Tony Lulek. Splendido came in last place, led by Paul Zalewski, who had to encourage his players through a tough season with only one win and 5 losses.
Despite the standings, there was a lot of comradery and laughter no matter where your team finished. The winter season starts in early January.
