Unfavorable weather conditions and re-seeding operations limited the times the Ranchette Putters could meet in October and November. However, a Moonlight Couples Putting Event provided a great opportunity for everyone to putt, socialize, and ‘glow’ in the dark.
The event was limited to 54 couples, who were assigned to teams of four or six players. All putters assembled in the La Mesa Room to receive glow markers on their putters, along with glow bracelets and necklaces to wear. Each team captain also picked up a golf ball with a glow insert for all players to use.
As the sun went down, the putting green was illuminated by glow sticks attached to every hole. Golfing in the dark and watching glowing balls travel on the green proved to be a fun experience for everyone. Team scores were tallied and prizes were announced at a social hour following the event.
With an average of 38.83, third place was awarded to Char and Dennis Eckmeyer, Marilyn and Tom Graham, and Rita Teresi and Bob Pritchard. An average of 38.25 qualified the second-place team of D and Dick Fitzgerald and Patricia and Marty Volk. And with the lowest team average of 37.5, first place was earned by Sandee and Larry Bickelhaupt and Lori and Mike Eby.
Prizes were also given out to these putters who sank four or more holes in one: Gregg Pendy (4), David Hanes (4), and Marilyn Graham.
Congratulations to Irene Keil and her team of Corky Mansmith, Marilyn Graham, Anne Ratterman, Anne Terrell, Debbie Norwood, and Linda Zoellner. They put together an event that everyone wants to experience again. Be sure to check out our bulletin board by the pro shop for more information or contact Cindy Watkins at [email protected].
