A couple of months ago, Gillian Allard, an artist from the Southern Arizona Arts Guild (SAAG), was the instructor for a tapestry mosaic panel class. Those who took her class enjoyed it so much and learned so much. In response, Gillan is returning to teach a variation of that class on Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. It will be a 4” x 4” square tapestry mosaic wooden tile.

Gillian will be providing all the materials for this class. So no need to purchase additional items to complete your wooden tile. Plus, you will complete your tile in only one three-hour class.

If you shop at the SAAG store in La Encantada, you may have seen her artwork of tapestry mirrors and panels. Gillian’s love of mosaics came after visiting Gaudi’s Parc Güell in Barcelona. The act of piecing together many things, and using a mixture of pattern and texture to make a whole piece of art is the focus of her art. She has been creating functional mosaics for more than 12 years and teaching for more than eight.

Class description: Using tiles, beads, and a central focal point, students will create a 4” x 4” square tapestry mosaic wooden tile. You can hang it (hanger included) or display it free-standing. You will leave with this unique piece of art after three hours. This is another opportunity to express your creativity in a different art medium.

Date for the class: Wednesday, Aug. 9

Time: 1 to 4 p.m.

Class fee: $75. Please mark on your check that it is for the tapestry mosaic tile class.
