Do you have one of those old upright manual typewriters which you have been thinking of turning into a lamp of interest? Mine is on the top shelf of the linen closet, but it could be worth several hundred dollars if not thousands…a wishful thought. Find out what your treasure is worth by joining Arizona P.E.O. Chapter FF at their Fine Arts and Antique appraisal event, which is a fundraising activity for the P.E.O. philanthropies that help to support women in their desire to further their education by way of educational grants, loans and scholarships, undergraduate through post graduate levels.
P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) was founded in 1869 by seven young women who were attending a Wesleyan University located in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. From this simple beginning our membership has grown to almost 250,000, all of whom are striving to promote educational opportunities to well deserving women through our philanthropies mentioned above, as well as supporting our fully accredited Cottey College that is located in Nevada, Missouri.
The event will be held on November 15, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Golder Ranch Fire Department Training Center located on Golder Ranch Road in Catalina, Arizona. The doors will open 30 minutes early so that our appraiser may view your items before getting down to business. A limited number (40) items will be appraised, so pre-registering is essential and encouraged.
For registration and information, please call Wendy McMillan at 520-310-2137.
We proudly announce our appraiser is Mr. Sean Morton of Morton Appraisals of Scottsdale, in business since 1993. He is a certified appraiser and frequently represents clients at major auctions around the nation. Everyone who brings an item for appraisal will get his or her information right from Mr. Morton. Please no coins, stamps, guns, collectibles or costume jewelry.
If you have a large piece of furniture, Sean can give you an appraisal based on a good quality photograph…no need for a furniture dolly and all of your neighbors to help you out! Bring your treasures and join in on the fun!!
There is a fee for the appraisal: $35, and the fee for observers is $5. Remember the proceeds of this event will go to benefit the P.E.O. philanthropies for educational grants, loans and scholarships.
So save the date – Saturday, November 15.
