Armchair Travel Club welcomes Jim Gressinger from Southern Arizona Guide

Linda Shannon-Hills and Carol Fielding

Join Jim Gressinger of Armchair Travel on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 5:00 p.m. in the Ranch House Sol Ballroom for an interesting slide show and talk on southern Arizona. Jim has visited SaddleBrooke Ranch the past several years to talk about southern Arizona road trips and travel tips, and he now has new road trips to recommend, especially for newcomers to SaddleBrooke Ranch.

Prior to retiring here in Tucson, Jim published newspapers in many parts of the United States, including Texas, Ohio, New York and California. Over the past 35 years, Jim and his wife met a lot of wonderful people, and many now visit them for a week or two in the fall, winter or spring. It is not unusual for their visitors to ask for recommendations on where to go, what to see and where to eat. Jim and his wife have become rather expert tour guides and lead several tours, including their popular Tucson History and Libation Walking Tour, Ghost Town Tour, Wine Tasting Tour and the Santa Cruz River Valley Tour. They also started the Southern Arizona Guide, which can be viewed at southernarizonaguide.com. The guide is very different from Chamber of Commerce and Visitor and Convention Bureau guides as, editorially, they only recommend attractions, activities, restaurants and places of lodging that they wholeheartedly recommend to their friends and family. Similarly, they only accept advertising from establishments that meet this same discriminating criteria.

Jim and his wife love to share their local knowledge so that your visit to Tucson and southern Arizona will be all it should be. You can sign up to receive their free weekly e-newsletter at the above website.

You will never tire of reading the weekly e-newsletters of interesting historical stories and trips they have taken or plan to take. He also will bring some of his books to sell after his talk.

You won’t be disappointed in Jim’s talk on Aug. 3, presented by Armchair Travel, in the Sol Ballroom.
