Art Club Offering Intermediate Watercolor Painting in July
Debby Felzien
The SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) Art Club is excited to bring back Karen Brungardt for another series of classes in watercolor!
You may have seen Karen’s artwork displayed at Absolutely Art Gallery in Catalina, as well as the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild gallery on Broadway. She has attained the Signature member status and has earned the Saguaro Fellow Level (the highest level of achievement available) with the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild. She is also the president of the SaddleBrooke Fine Arts Guild. She will be sharing her years of experience with participants.
Developing the Painting in Watercolor, Part 2: A Painting Every Week!
Interested in watercolor and advancing your skills? This course is designed for those who took Beginning Watercolor with Karen earlier this year, but if you have some watercolor experience, this class is also for you! She will teach you to paint a different subject every week. For instance, the first week might be a flower, the next week might be a landscape, then a water scene with rocks, and so on. The emphasis will be on design, composition, color usage, and new techniques while practicing basic painting skills to develop the painting. Students will be encouraged to learn how to finish a painting. They will be encouraged to paint on their own, bring in their work to be discussed in a positive way, and become more confident in their watercolor painting journey.
Dates for the 4 classes: Wednesdays, July 17, July 24, (SKIP July 31), Aug. 7, and Aug. 14
Time: 1 to 4 p.m. in the SBR Art Room
Class fee: $180; fee includes instruction, didactic materials, photos and demonstration

New Zentangle Class!
Erin Newman
The SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) Art Club will have another “beat the heat!” Zentangle class in July. Residents must be a member of the Art Club to attend. To learn more about joining the SBR Art Club, contact Erin Newman at [email protected].
The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. These structured patterns are called tangles. Zentangle is also a mindfulness technique that many people find relaxing and has been found to have benefits in reducing anxiety, relieving stress, and increasing focus.
Zenbuttons Class: Monday, July 22, 9 to 11:30 a.m.
Join the fun of creating a circular piece of art using fragments of tangles. Colored inks, deep shading, and a variety of patterns create an intricate-looking Zentangle tile similar to those in the picture. This class is suitable for all levels of experience and ability with Zentangle. Bring any Zentangle supplies you already have—any new materials will be provided by the teacher.
