Fun, Colorful Ceramics—Sun
June 10, 1–4 p.m.
Oracle resident and artist Laura Stiltner is returning to share another new fun project with SBR Art Club members. Join Laura as she demonstrates how to create your own one-of-a kind ceramic sun art piece, full of color and whimsy! All materials will be provided. No experience necessary.
Beginning Calligraphy
June 11, 18, and 25, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
The SBR Art Club is excited to offer a beginner’s course in calligraphy taught by instructor and SBR resident Deb Gilbertson. This is a 3-week series of step-by-step instruction and practical exercises in the basic elements of lettering using a pen handle and nibs, resulting in the creation of an entire sentence in a Roman alphabet. All tools provided.
Camera Phone Photography
June 11, 1–2:30 p.m.
Back by popular demand! The SBR Art Club is once again offering this class with local photographer Nancy Schroeder, all using the camera on your phone! Learn how to maximize function and formats for sharper and more creative images from your phones. Great class for all levels who want to get the most of their phone camera!
Watercolor—French Lavender Field
June 18, 1–4 p.m.
Join Liz Iverson and create this beautiful lavender field landscape! Liz will take you through the process step-by-step, practicing techniques and learning about composition and tonal value. The scene will be pre-outlined for you on watercolor paper—no drawing required. All levels of experience are welcome.
Zentangle—Steampunk Tangles
June 22, 9 a.m.–noon
Certified Zentangle Teacher Val Barsevich presents a creative session of a new genre of tangles which combines retro and futuristic design! Basic skills of tangling through an Introductory class will help all levels of tangle artists feel comfortable learning this “mechanical” style to add to your Zentangle journey.
Acrylic—Uncontained Summer
June 24, 1–4 p.m.
Join Tucson artist Theresa Poalucci and learn to paint in acrylic! No drawing skills required. This class will teach you the basics of loading a brush, letting strokes stay visible, dry brush texture, and layering colors. You will leave with a finished acrylic painting on an 11” x 14” wood panel ready to hang. Great class for all levels including beginners.
