On January 12, members of the Ranch’s Birthday Club welcomed speakers Michael Aylmer, Vice President of Sales, and Grant Bruce, Director of the Clarins Spa at Miraval, to speak about the world-famous resort, which is located almost in our back yard. Founded in 1996 and brought to national prominence when it was featured on The Oprah Show, Miraval focuses on mindfulness. “It’s all about being natural,” said Grant, adding, “we weave stress reduction and unplugging techniques into all of our treatments and activities.”

Over 30 new offerings have recently been created, each designed to go beyond the skin’s surface to awaken the senses and create balance through well-being. Guests can enjoy a variety of massages and facial treatments indoors or out in one of the six outdoor treatment rooms. Miraval has also recently added an equine experience and has partnered with Deborah Lippmann to offer her renowned natural nail line.

For those of us who live in the area, the 15,000 square foot spa offers day packages that include lunch in its dining room, known for preparing conscious cuisine that fuses bold new methods with vibrant fresh tastes. You can even get a glass of wine or cocktail to go with your meal!

Miraval generously provided a certificate for a day at the spa for a door prize that was won by Birthday Club member Linda Hart.

The Birthday Club meets on the second Monday of each month and provides a unique opportunity for residents of the Ranch, old and new, to get together to renew friendships and make new ones. Guest speakers present interesting topics at most of the lunches, and fashion shows are held twice a year in which all of the models are Ranch residents showcasing fashions from local boutiques. Be on the lookout for the dates of this year’s shows, one of which will be in the spring and one in the fall, giving you a first look at the hottest fashions for the coming season. It’s great fun!
