Carols, Cocktails, and Canapes kicked off the holiday season for 42 members of the British Club at the home of Lynne Pendlebury and Mike Sachse on Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. It was so much fun with each member being decked out with choices of necklaces of flashing Christmas lights, headdresses of reindeer horns, snowmen, Santa hats, Christmas glasses, etc. Everyone gleefully sang the Christmas carols accompanied by their very own British Club, piano virtuoso and host, Mike Sachse. Our very own British Club member Tim Frost was our super surprise saxophone player, and everyone enjoyed the amazing Christmas melodies that came forth from his saxophone.
A delicious holiday potluck buffet was served with members contributing their culinary delights of a selection of cheese and crackers, BBQ dip and crackers, shrimp with cocktail sauce, deviled eggs, sausage rolls, and more. Scrumptious desserts followed: Mince pies, rum bundt cake, and Christmas cookies. Lynne and Mike generously provided cocktails, beer, and wine.
Each couple brought one wrapped gag (funny) Secret Santa gift per couple to exchange after the marvelous buffet, which made it a most enjoyable, fun time.
Tim Frost closed the wonderful festive evening with his saxophone once again, this time playing the heartfelt, emotional strains of “Auld Lang Zyne,” with members embracing the tune and singing along.
Everyone thanked Lynne and Mike for hosting this extremely fun holiday party and agreed it was a great way to start the holiday festivities!
