On Thursday, September 1, at SaddleBrooke Ranch, the Citizens Awareness Forum held a presentation and discussion on the two Propositions that will be on the ballot November 8: Proposition 205 Legalization of Marijuana for Recreational Use and Proposition 206 The Fair Wages Act. We discussed with our guest speaker the legislation that had been attempted to be passed but was not successful. We discussed the consequences if these propositions are passed by the voters. All voters were encouraged to study these propositions thoroughly because the results of the election will become law.
Mary-Ann Mehlhorn gave a presentation about the Wreaths Across America project, which SaddleBrooke Ranch residents participated in last December placing wreaths on veterans’ graves in Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson.
We briefly discussed current events and also the Primary Election results. We were reminded that new residents may register to vote while at the Motor Vehicle Department in San Manuel or Tucson to get their Arizona Driver’s License. If they already have an Arizona driver’s license then they may register to vote online at: servicearizona.com, or may acquire a Voter’s Registration form from Mary-Ann Mehlhorn or Carol Sorensen. The last day to register to vote for the November election is Monday, October 10. Early mail-in ballots will be in the mail on Wednesday, October 12. To vote in person SaddleBrooke Ranch residents vote on November 8 at the polling place located in the Oracle Justice Court, 1470 N. Justice Drive, in the town of Oracle.
