The die is cast. Oh, I mean the play is cast! Community Circle Players (CCP) Director Tim Morsani and Assistant Carol Henry held auditions the first week in December for the upcoming spring 2025 dinner theatre production of “Witness for the Prosecution.” Often regarded as Agatha Christie’s most accomplished play, Witness is a suspenseful thriller that keeps audiences guessing to the very end. The stakes are high with shocking witness testimony, impassioned outbursts, and a man’s fight to escape the hangman’s noose. The 1957 film garnered six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. But don’t watch the film, you won’t want to spoil the mystery!

The CCP cast will include veterans Al Weigel as defense counsel Sir Wilfrid Robarts and Connie Ward as co-counsel Jane Mayhew. The accused murderer, Leonard Vole, will be played by Jay Schweitzer, and Susan Sterling will portray his wife Christine Vole. The prosecuting team includes Fran Berman as Ms. Meyers and Mary Kay Voss as Ms. Barton.

CCP also welcomes new members; Sally Spieth as Janet MacKenzie, the victim’s housekeeper, and Susie Paine as Ms. Clegg from New Scotland Yard. Susan Schweitzer, CCP’s consummate costumer, will make her onstage debut in a small, but key role.

Rounding out the cast, CCP welcomes back Andrea Molberg as Dr. Wyatt, Jim Burke as Inspector Hearne, Douglas Wolf holding court as the judge, Marylin Ginther as the clerk, Jim Ward as Carter, and TJ Fletcher as Greta.

The play also calls for several extras to fill the courtroom. They include Lydia Strickland, Karen Crump, Tom Christian, Linda Gray, and Helen Amelsberg.

The performances are March 29, 30, 31 and April 2, 3, and 4. Tickets are $59 inclusive with no host bar. Sales start Tuesday, Feb. 11, on sbhoa2.org. Questions about the production can be directed to Tim Morsani at [email protected].
