We couldn’t have asked for two better days of golf for the SaddleBrooke Ranch Men’s Golf Association (SBRMGA) Club Championship. The weather was ideal, the course was in excellent condition, and the entire event reflected what makes golf at SaddleBrooke Ranch so special. Strong competition, great camaraderie, and an outstanding pace of play made for a memorable championship.
Dan Anderson and Bill Borden began the final round tied at even par after day one, setting the stage for a great finish.
Anderson opened with a birdie on the first hole, but Borden quickly answered with birdies on holes 3 and 4. After Anderson’s bogey on 4, Borden took the lead and steadily built it to three strokes at the turn with consistent play, while Anderson added bogeys on 6 and 8.
The momentum shifted on the back nine.
Anderson settled in and played flawless, steady golf, closing with 10 consecutive pars. Borden, meanwhile, struggled early on the back side, recording five bogeys over the first six holes, allowing Anderson to take control.
Borden made one final push with a birdie on 17 to cut the lead to one, but couldn’t carry that momentum to the final hole. Anderson calmly two-putted for par on 18 to secure his first SBRMGA Club Championship.
A well-deserved victory and a tremendous championship battle from both players.
