Updates, Dates, and Happenings
Melanie Einbund
At November services, Rabbi Price led us in thought and reflection. Rabbi Price noted that the Rabbi is a source of spiritual and pastoral guidance. A bit of a change in November was Eliyanah Powers, our Cantorial Soloist not only chanting the prayers but playing the music as well. Because Dr. Josh Nichols, our accompanist, was in London, England, to lead and direct his original composition commissioned by the Bowery Trio. Congratulations to Eliyanah for doing double duty. Congratulations to Josh and his success!
Thank You
Santa Catalina Catholic Church has warmly welcomed us. Having a facility that allows us to observe and practice our traditions is a blessing. Our thanks and appreciation to Fr. Huy Vu and his congregation.
Dates to Remember

Want to Learn About Judaism? We Have Classes!
We are truly fortunate that Rabbi Daniel Price will be leading classes that are for our membership. The topics are: Introduction to the Prayer Book, Advocating for Israel, Introduction to Torah Study, and Introduction to Jewish Rituals. If you are interested, contact Esta Goldstein at [email protected]. You must be registered to attend.
Last year many of us visited The Jewish Museum housed in the first synagogue in Tucson. The Holocaust Museum is on the same site. Learning about early Jewish history and beginnings in Tucson was a revelation for a lot of us. If you would like to visit with us, please contact Esta Goldstein at [email protected].
A Taste of Chant and Chocolate Is January 29!
Chanting is a musical meditation and a way of calming and/or energizing a spiritual experience. Healing of mental, physical, and soulful reaching occurs as a phrase from the Torah, liturgy, or Song of Songs (Psalms) are set to melody. If you are interested, contact Joy Erickson at [email protected].

By the time you read this the Annual Meeting was held. Four members were elected to the board. Since this article is being written before the meeting, board members will be listed in the February article. The annual meeting affects our common life together and as we look to the future and how we grow as a Jewish Congregation.
A step forward as we grow as a Congregation and look to the future is obtaining new prayer books. The prayer books are the Mishkan family of prayer books. They are the most modern and current Reform prayer book available today. A set is comprised of the Shabbat Prayer Book and the High Holy Day books. These prayer books will enable us to reach a greater understanding of our Jewish liturgy and allow a more inclusive, evolving, and comforting religious services. To understand more about this campaign and contribute, please contact Jerry Lankin, Religious Committee, at [email protected].
B’nai Midbar is a welcoming congregation. If you wish to join our congregation or have questions, please feel free to contact Esta Goldstein at [email protected] for information.
We wish everyone a wonderful New Year!
