Ever Wondered About the Meaning of Life?

Every Wednesday morning, from 9 to 11 a.m., a group of SBR men gather in the Hacienda Building La Vista room to study the Bible. Our main goal is to read through the Bible verse by verse, secondly it’s to find ways we can apply biblical truths in our daily lives, and thirdly for fellowship. What sets us apart is that our study is discussion-based where active participation is encouraged, but not required. The open discussion format generates hard questions followed by a sharing of views based on biblical truths. Some of the recent questions that drove deep, lengthy discussions:

* Is there really a heaven and hell? If so, where are they located? What are they like?

* Why would a loving and caring God permit evil and suffering?

* What scientific proof is there that our world was created with intelligent design?

* What is the biggest thing God wants from us?

The men who attend come from a wide variety of denominational backgrounds. We have Baptists, Catholics, Methodists, Nazarenes— the list goes on. We even have former atheists, new Christians, and men who have been Christians for 50 years. Our men also come from a wide variety of professions: law enforcement, engineering, medical, sales, financial, military, and more.

The group is currently in the book of John and will, in the near future, do a study on Apologetics (the science of defending Christian faith). Our group is open to anyone, believer or nonbeliever, wishing to learn more about the Christian faith. If you would like to learn more about what we do and where we’re headed, please call Steve Irwin at 775-737-8139 or Mike Bosky at 972-837-6300.
