So many wonderful pieces of art were displayed and sold, but a unique piece of art was the Fairy Odd Mother. The design came from renown doll maker named Eleanor Peace Bailey, but the development of these fun and fanciful dolls was by local artist Barbara Martin. Fairy Odd Mothers bring joy and laughter to your life as well as create calm, acceptance of an irritating in-law, difficult family members, controlling recalcitrant child but most of all happiness. She can be removed from her base so you can shake her at all those frustrating events that might come into your life from time to time. You can leave her in her stand and talk to her anytime as she will listen, but best of all every time you look at her, you have to smile.
Barbara made 10 dolls for the latest SBR ARTwalk, she sold eight dolls but also gave one to this writer, putting a smile on my face each time I walk into my office. One doll is still waiting to find that forever home, which I am sure will happen soon. Barb donated $160 to the Food Bank of Catalina from the sale of these dolls. Thank you, Barbara.
