Gift bags from Walgreens will be at the Health Fair in October.

“Our relationship with the SaddleBrooke Community means so much to us at Walgreens that we wanted to show our support this year by donating gift bags to the first 1,500 attendees at the Health Fair on October 18,” says Lisa Espich, Walgreens Community Leader.

Walgreens will offer flu and pneumonia shots as well as the shingles vaccine. To schedule the shingles vaccine, please contact Lisa Espich by October 13 to arrange proper billing to your insurance. You can reach her at [email protected] or at 520-825-7747.

HealthWaves will be back again to administer flu and pneumonia immunizations as well as a wide range of diagnostic tests at a very reasonable fee. HealthWaves will also provide the quadrivalent flu vaccine for $40.

Oro Valley Hospital will focus on the vital connection between mental and physical health and will offer depression screenings plus flexibility and balance tests. You will definitely want to put this on your “must see at the Health Fair” list.

According to Oro Valley, exercise is not only an important way to keep your body fit, it can also improve your mood and your outlook on life. An active social life is another way to keep your mind strong. When you connect with people at church, join social organizations, volunteer for worthy causes or go to dinner or a movie with friends, you are keeping yourself mentally fit. A new hobby or skill keeps the mind active, which is as important to overall well-being as keeping the body active.

Counseling may be useful to identify ways to change self-defeating behaviors and cope with stress and grief. If you or a loved one is struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, grief, unusual fears, disordered thinking or changes in sleep habits or personal hygiene, it may be time to seek support. Oro Valley Hospital’s Senior Behavioral Health program is available to seniors 55 years and older. You can learn more at the Health Fair or contact the Senior Behavior Coordinators at 901-6253 for a free screening.

More information on the Health Fair is available at www.sbseniors.org. Details of lab tests and services will be on the website prior to the Health Fair. If you would like to volunteer for a 90-minute shift on the morning of October 18, contact Sally Sample at [email protected].
