“More than firefighters….” Golder Ranch Fire District is here to provide responsive and caring fire and life safety services. On Thursday, June 25, Ann Marie Braswell, Community Relations Manager, and her intern, Samantha, gave an overview during Thursday Talks at La Hacienda about the “other” services provided to our community from Golder Ranch Fire District. Smoke detectors chirping; they will come to change out the batteries (you provide batteries). If you have a need to climb up on a ladder, call and they will come to assist. They can take your blood pressure; stop by the fire house on Arroyo Vista. She passed out a plastic pocket with a magnet and a form called File for Life. You are encouraged to fill out the form with your medical information, then post on your refrigerator or somewhere the responders can find to answer questions you may not be able to answer in an emergency. Contact the fire station for the File for Life.

Another service Golder Ranch Fire District provides is a residential lockbox. It allows the fire department instant access to your home in the event of an emergency. Your front door key is installed inside and locked. Once installed, the box may only be opened by authorized fire department personnel, so your keys are safe and secure from the public and would-be intruders. Not only does this save time, but may also prevent costly damage to your home in the event entry to your home must be forced by the fire department during an emergency. The cost is $60, a one-time fee. Contact Golder Ranch Fire Department to purchase the box. Their non-emergency number to call is 520-825-9001.

Golder Ranch Fire District offers an EMS membership. It is a way to protect you and your family from the unexpected cost of emergency ambulance transport, well beyond $1,000. Depending on your insurance plan the cost of ambulance transportation may not be covered fully, or if you are uninsured you will be responsible for the remainder of the fees from the ambulance transport. Membership covers ambulance transport from anywhere within the Golder Ranch Fire District for just $75 per household per year. For more details, go to their website www.grmhs.org. Registration is easy and can be done in three different ways: over the phone by calling 520-825-9001; online at www.grmhs.org; or by filling out the registration form available on the website, at their administration office or at your neighborhood Golder Ranch Fire Station.
