Monday, September 28, at 7:00 p.m. in the MountainView Country Club Ballroom, SaddleBrooke Health and Wellness will host Dr. Miguel Montero-Baker, a vascular and endovascular surgeon at Pima Vascular.
Many Americans live with the pain and discomfort of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) thinking it is a normal part of aging. The problem is a result of cholesterol and scar tissue forming plaque in the arteries. Dr. Montero will discuss tips for early recognition of the symptoms and techniques to manage the condition.
Dr. Montero-Baker graduated with honors both from medical school and his residency in Vascular Surgery at the University of Costa Rica. After residency he was awarded a DAAD (German Academic Exchange – Deutscher Akademischer Austach Dienst) scholarship to pursue his interest in interventional therapies in Leipzig, Germany. There he completed a peripheral vascular ultrasound fellowship and an advanced peripheral vascular interventions fellowship.
Driven by his passion for research and development of new diagnostic techniques for ischemic limbs, Dr. Montero-Baker completed an integrated Vascular Surgery residency program at the University of Arizona. Dr. Montero-Baker is a well-recognized opinion leader for the Latin American medical community and an active member of multiple scientific societies. His main clinical interests are critical limb ischemia and complex aortic pathology.
