Ten riders from the Horseback Riding Group enjoyed a beautiful ride on April 4 at Rancho de los Cerros located adjacent to Catalina State Park. The location is only about 20-30 minutes away in Oro Valley, making it a convenient place to enjoy seeing the spectacular panoramic views of the Catalinas.
This was the last ride of the spring season as it gets pretty warm going forward and many of the horses head north to places like Show Low, Ariz.; Colorado; and Wyoming so riders can enjoy trails in those locations from late spring to early fall.
Our next ride will be Saturday, Sept. 19. The club rides at various stables around Tucson and as far as Gold Canyon east of Phoenix. Many participating have not ridden in a long time, but the ride is at the walk so it is not difficult. There is always a mounting block to help you mount and dismount.
If you are interested in the Horseback Riding Group’s activities, go to the Saddlebrooke HOA website, “Things to do,” “Clubs.” There in the middle column is a link to the “Horseback Riding Group.” Click on that and you will see more information and the email address to get in contact with the group.
If you would like to participate in a particular ride, you can reserve it on the club’s “TeamReach” site. Just send an email to the Secretary, Rebecca Williams, and she will invite you to “TeamReach.” There you will see more information on a particular ride. Using “TeamReach” makes it very easy to make your reservation or cancel if you need to. On Wednesday ahead of the ride, further details and directions are posted on TeamReach to help those participating in that weekend’s ride.
You can participate as often as you choose. All rides are usually one hour at a walk, just to enjoy the scenery. The price for each ride varies, but is typically $60 to $80 plus cash tip. We all pay at the stable on the day of the ride. Carpools may also be arranged upon request. Happy Trails!
