The Institute of Judaic Services and Studies’ (IJSS) October Shabbat services were well attended. Rabbi Seltzer spoke to the war in Israel, provided some history, and led us in prayer. Cantorial Soloist Eliyanah Powers and Accompanist Dr. Josh Nichols presented liturgical music that resounded throughout the service.
The Oneg celebrated the 50th wedding anniversary of Mart and Carol Gordon.
The occasion also marked Mart’s 90th birthday. Rabbi Seltzer praised Carol for providing music when we had none. He also congratulated Mart on his birthday and welcomed him to the 90s club.
Rabbi Seltzer Never Fails Us
Residents came to hear and contribute their thoughts as Rabbi Seltzer spoke about “Who Did What to Whom in the Garden of Eden? Does It Matter?” Similar thoughts and comments were identified, both eye-opening and sometimes surprising. The meeting was well attended with high energy inspired by Rabbi Seltzer.
Chanukah is Dec. 7 through 15. A celebration of the miracle of oil lasting eight days when there was only enough for one at the rededication of the Temple. We come together to enjoy each other with the symbolic food of potato pancakes and jelly doughnuts.
November Shabbat services were on Nov. 17. Rabbi Seltzer officiated, assisted by Eliyanah Powers and Dr. Josh Nichols. An Oneg followed services.
