The Oro Valley Triathlon and Duathlon Festival was held on March 14 in and around James D. Kreigh Park in Oro Valley. Four hundred and eighty-two competitors from 27 states and Canada, ranging in age from 10 to 85, signed up for the event. This is the 12th year the event has been held in Oro Valley. The festival was USA Triathlon-sanctioned and offered several event options, including a sprint or intermediate distance triathlon and a run-bike duathlon.

SaddleBrooke Ranch resident Jeanne Nordstrom completed the sprint triathlon that consisted of a 350-meter swim, 14.6-mile bike race, and a 3.1-mile run. This was only the second time Ms. Nordstrom ever competed in this type of event, the first time being exactly 30 years ago when the race was held at the University of Arizona’s McKale Center.
