Lanterns Shed Light on Spring Holidays

Claudia Knauss

With 2025 now having been warmly welcomed in, home décor changes once again. Valentines Day, being the first spring holiday, presents many opportunities to celebrate with reds, pinks, and whites. Glasshoppers members will begin spring decorating by making a beautifully designed “Hearts and More Hearts” plate that is display-ready using locally made stands. Or, use this special holiday plate to serve sweets to someone you love or a great friend, coupled with fanciful quotes like, “The Best Things in Life are Better With You,” or “Making Friends as a Grown Up Can be Hard; Thanks for Making It Easy.” Club members will also be focusing on making springtime-themed lantern panels. Lanterns are often used in home décor, as well as in outside covered vestibules and on patios. A front opening glass panel on each decorative lantern can be “switched out” with designs representing various holidays and seasons. This spring’s lantern class will focus on Valentines and St. Patrick’s Day panels. Lanterns can be displayed with no-flame candles inside to create beautiful patterns that add shine to your home. Come by the glass studio to check out the many lantern pattern choices available, or join a class and design your own!
