Looking for a New Hobby? Paper Crafting Could Be It!

Nichole Lawhon

The heat of summer is over, and we are heading into fall. Are any of you thinking of starting a new hobby? It might be a great time to join the SaddleBrooke Ranch PaperCrafters.

September will be a great time to visit the club and see what paper crafting all is about. Each month a unique studio project is offered, and on Sept. 8 we will be creating cardstock using paper napkins. This cardstock will be a perfect addition to any crafting projects. If you think this sounds fun, join us at the activity center at 1 p.m. Please feel free to bring your favorite napkins to use during the activity, otherwise materials will be provided. Another great opportunity to visit the club would be on Oct. 13, when we will be celebrating National Card Making Day. It’s a day dedicated to the craft of making handmade cards, encouraging people to express their creativity and connect with loved ones through personalized greetings. Just come by the activity center at 1 p.m. to join the fun.

Our members had a great time during our July studio project taught by our president Suzy Claar. We learned new ways to use stencils. We were all challenged to go out of our comfort zones using materials including molding clay, paint, and blending chalk crayons to create stencil designs on paper. It was so fun to see everyone create papers for future projects. So many of us used these materials for the first time, which is why these studio classes are so beneficial.

Members, as a reminder please take time to visit the activity center on Mondays during studio time from 1 to 4 p.m. It is a great way to work with other members and get ideas for new projects. It is also great to have a full house on Mondays, because in addition to all the crafting, so many memories are created among our members and new friendships are made.

If paper crafting sounds interesting to you, we encourage you to visit us on Mondays from 1 to 4 p.m. You can meet crafters who will help you get started and give you inspiration to create paper works of art for you to enjoy in the future. Just bring yourself and all supplies will be provided. Membership is only $20 per year.
