Each year, Diana paints new holiday images that are then reproduced as cards. There is a special story behind the inspiration for each painting.
“My Forever Home” was painted as part of a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA). Diana wanted to find a way to help HSSA after noticing how many charities have suffered due to being forced to cancel their 2020 galas and fundraisers. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the sale of this original painting will be donated to HSSA.
The southwest scene “Christmas Church” was inspired by a visit to Chimayo in New Mexico—the church of healing. Each year some 300,000 people from all over the world make the pilgrimage to the church during Holy Week. Many visitors take a small amount of the “holy dirt,” often in hopes of a miraculous cure for themselves or someone who could not make the trip. Diana brought back some holy dirt for a friend who had cancer, and though he has been well for many years, he still keeps the holy dirt near him in a special place in his painting studio.
“My Forever Home” and “Christmas Church” are both available as holiday cards or glass ornaments. There are over 25 southwest holiday cards available.
