The SaddleBrooke Master Garderners will present Dr. Steven Buchmann, Author and Entomology Professor UA at the MountainView Clubhouse Ballroom West on March 17, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. His topic is “Flowers: What They Have to Say for the Birds, Bees, and Us.” Ask Your Master Gardener will be 12:30-1:00 p.m.
Dr. Stephen Buchmann is an adjunct professor in the Entomology Department at the University of Arizona. He is also an instructor in the Art Institute of the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum. He researches buzz pollination in which some bees turn themselves into living tuning forks to harvest pollen.
Stephen has published 12 books, including his latest book The Reason for Flowers. Steve served as Chief Scientist for the feature film Wings of Life narrated by Meryl Streep. Come to this lecture to find out how flowers talk to the birds and bees.
The plant walk on MountainView Clubhouse walkway will be April 21, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. plus Zann Wilson, SaddleBrooke Master Gardener, will present “Lose the Snooze: Alternatives to Overused Landscape Plants” in the MountainView Clubhouse Ballroom West from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Zann Wilson, SaddleBrooke Master Gardener, will tell you how to liven up your landscape with a fresh palette of plants that perform well in our desert environment, stimulate visual interest and rival the most common characters in any tired, over-familiar setting.

The Pima County Master Gardeners announce their 17th annual Home Garden Tour in Oro Valley on April 16, 2016. The distinctive and beautiful home gardens of four Master Gardeners will be featured along with practical demonstrations and talks at each home to include such varied topics as home composting, Grow Zones for water efficiency and plant selection, miniature succulent gardens, perennial container gardening and more.
