More than 100 locals and neighbors joined with the SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch Master Gardeners for a free demonstration day at our Community Garden on March 8. Several interactive demonstrations were set up, including irrigation, harvesting asparagus, soil and fertilizer, citrus gardening, flower pollinators, garden structures, native seed harvesting, and garden tool sharpening.
The Gardeners were ready with answers to all the questions (and there were a lot of questions!), and many SBR residents expressed great interest in leasing raised gardens. Nearly 20 Master Gardeners participated and were assisted by Ranch residents who are masters in their own gardening techniques.
To the delight of all attending, chocolate chip cookies were available at each table for sampling.
