Meet the Author

Sue Stults has dedicated her work to helping families navigate some of life’s most challenging seasons. She was the founder and president of Compelled by Compassion, Inc., and has worked in the areas of elder care and end-of-life issues for more than 20 years.

Her book, Reaching Beyond the Rail: The Blood, Sweat and Tears of Caring for Mom and Dad, shares her experiences and lessons surrounding family caregiving. Through her work as a professional speaker, chaplain, and author, Sue provided families with practical information and encouragement as they cared for aging or ill loved ones.

Sue also created The Personal Health Care Manual, a companion resource designed to help families organize important health-care information and prepare for difficult medical and caregiving decisions.

At the heart of Sue’s work is a simple message: respect, honor, and dignity. Sue has experience speaking on topics such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, and death and dying, and always comes from the perspective of supporting and sustaining family relationships. Sue continues to encourage caregivers to seek information, plan ahead, and remember that they do not have to face these difficult seasons alone.

Sue and her husband, Larry, moved from Seattle, Wash., and have called the Ranch home for the past five years. They both love the people, the friendships, and the wonderful sense of community here.

You may have already met Sue on the pickleball court, playing with her ball marked “SQ” (Susie Q), or perhaps spotted her relaxing in the outdoor pool wearing her favorite raspberry sun hat. Either way, you will enjoy getting to know Sue as she shares her warm smile, generous spirit, and tender heart.

Please join us to hear Sue share about her book and her passion on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2:30 p.m. in the La Mesa Room at SaddleBrooke Ranch.

Books and manuals will be available for purchase.
