Mudslingers Coil Class

Sue Fetters

Larry Martin, one of our most talented artists, offered a class in Coil Building in July. Toni Selk, the club president, assisted Larry. In this class the students learned the hand building method of creating pottery pieces using cylindrical coils. Building with coils is a pottery technique where a pot is constructed by stacking and joining coils of clay. This handbuilding method allows for a wide variety of shapes and forms, as the coils can be manipulated and shaped as they are added. Member demand for this class was high. Larry generously offered to add another class in August.

The Mudslingers studio is located at the Arts and Tech Center. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
