Sue Fetters
We are so lucky here at the Ranch to have a state–of–the–art pottery studio. Among the many helpful tools available to us is the clay extruder. Using it may be a little intimidating to some, so it was very helpful that Kari Erickson was kind enough to schedule two classes in April to instruct those who wanted to learn how to use it.
Our clay extruder is a tool that is used to push clay out through a nozzle to form uniform shapes. It allows for the creation of uniform coils, ropes, or tubes that would otherwise be difficult to construct by hand. With the help of a clay extruder, potters can save time and effort in shaping their clay pieces. Some of the unique pottery displayed in our studio window was created using the coils from the extruder.
There is such a vast supply of tools offered at the studio. No matter what your skill level is, there are helpful Monitors who can guide you on how to use them. Thank you, Kari, for teaching us how to use the extruder. Visit the studio to check out the beautiful works and pottery classes.
