Mudslingers Introduction Class

Sue Fetters

Our SBR Mudslingers pottery studio offers potential members a wonderfully thorough twopart introduction class exposing them to the fundamentals of clay, glazing, and our studio environment.

In the first session, students dive into the art of hand-building. Under expert guidance, they learn to shape, sculpt, and join raw clay, applying these new skills to create two unique pottery pieces from scratch.

The second session focuses on the transformative world of glazing, teaching students how to select, prepare, and apply glazes for beautiful color and texture. This session also includes an essential Studio Orientation and Safety Tour. They will learn studio etiquette, equipment operation, and safety protocols, leaving them confidently prepared to use the space as a new member.

Once these classes are completed, we welcome the participants to become members and enjoy all the creative benefits our studio offers. We are so fortunate to have our state-of-theart studio and so many helpful potters to offer guidance to our new members.

The Mudslingers studio is located in the Arts and Technology Center. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m.
