Mudslingers Pottery Club: What’s Ahead for 2022

Our owl potters created these pieces from hand-building technique, applying their own personal designs and glazing. Thanks to our owl expert, Claire Tiejte. Back row: Karen Nelson, Ellen Sosin, and Madoka Knight. Front row: Alex Anna, Claire Tiejte, and Brenda Mills.

Welcome to our new potters! Mudslingers Pottery Club is a wonderful way to have fun, meet new friends, and use your imagination to bring out your creative side. As we move from late (hot) summer months into cooler fall months, we look forward to welcoming back our fellow potters and catching up on what we did during our summer vacations.

For those of you who have tinkered with the idea of pursuing an artistic endeavor, sign up for the basics of pottery hand-building 3-hour intro class. After attending the first session, the focus of the second session, which happens three weeks later, is on glazing. The cost of the two sessions is $40, and all materials are included. If interested, stop by the studio to register. After hours there is a drop box on the wall outside our studio to sign up for classes and secure a spot with your check for $40. There are three first session intro classes on the schedule (the second session is approximately three weeks after the first session).

* Thursday, Aug. 25, noon to 3 p.m.

* Thursday, Sept. 15, noon to 3 p.m.

* Thursday, Oct. 13, noon to 3 p.m.

A very exciting upcoming event is the SBR ArtWalk scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 22 and 23. This is an opportunity for club members to sell their works within the studio. Or if you have pieces to donate for sale, the club is raising funds for charity. You’ll want to enroll in one of the early hand-building intro class (dates above), so your work of art will be ready in time.

Studio hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 3 to 5 p.m., and Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please stop by during studio hours to chat with our monitors, who will show you around the facility. Check out our website at www.mudders.zannsgarden.com.
