On the evenings of March 29, 30, 31, and April 2, 3, and 4, residents were treated to a dinner theater production of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution. A gripping murder trial, electric courthouse scenes, and superb acting all conspired to create six memorable nights of theater for patrons. The story involved a younger man on trial for killing a wealthy older woman. Other notable characters included his German wife, a grim housekeeper, the courthouse judge, and barristers. Tim Morsani, the director, stated that the reason he selected this particular play was that he “felt the plot was engaging and would allow the audience to immerse themselves into the intensity of the story.”
Each night, immediately upon conclusion of the play, residents got to meet with and interact with all 17 members of the cast. In the course of these interactions, audience members gave high praise to the production. One audience member said it was “the best play she had ever seen in SaddleBrooke.” A second stated, “As evidence was debated and courtroom proceedings twisted, turned, and twisted again, the truth brought a gasp of surprise from me when it was finally revealed!” Another patron related, “The set and realistic costumes, including barrister robes and powdered wigs, created the feeling that we were in an actual English courtroom.”
Community Circle Players is a SaddleBrooke organization comprised of residents who are passionate about theater. Stay tuned for information on future productions.
