Linda Shannon-Hills
Here at the Ranch, we know that some of our neighbors may need additional assistance from time to time. One of the great things about living in a community like ours is the way we can look out for one another. That is what SBR Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN) is all about.
Some of us are considered “high risk” due to our age or underlying health conditions. Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance. Everyone needs help at times.
With more than 100 volunteers willing to help, we can be there for you when you need a ride to an appointment, pick up groceries, deliver meals when recuperating from a serious illness or surgery, simple tasks around the house, walk a dog, medical equipment loans, medical comfort items, short term pet care while you recover, and so much more.
Do You Need Help With Any of These Services?
* Need a ride? Resident drivers can take you to and from appointments, shopping, or picking up prescriptions.
* Run errands. Can’t get out? Volunteers will go to the grocery shop and run other errands for you.
* Companionship. Our volunteers can make home visits or a friendly phone call once a week to check in.
* Home visits. Would you like volunteers to make visits to your home periodically when you are feeling isolated, ill, or grieving?
* A break from caregiving. Our volunteers can provide short–term respite care for your loved one, to sit and chat, to allow you time away to do errands, attend club meetings, etc.
* Meal assistance during recovery. NHN can help with meals during surgery or illness recovery, or an early grieving period.
Other Ways We Can Help
* Pet care. Walk and/or feed dogs or cats during a resident’s period of acute illness or injury.
* Simple handyman tasks. Our Helping Hands volunteers can help with simple home and yard tasks, such as: tighten hinges, change a light bulb, carry out trash or the bin to the curb, change filters, make minor repairs to drip lines, hang pictures, reset irrigation systems, move items, and more.
* Medical equipment loans. SBR residents can loan their medical equipment to other residents at the Ranch. You can find the list on the SBR HOA website at saddlebrookeranchhoa.org/group/saddle/medical-equipment-loans1.
* Medical comfort items. Creative Giving of SBR has various items for residents, like walker bags, neck and back support pillows, neck pocket scarf, ice pack covers, heart pillows, shirt covers, seat belt covers, and more. Email creativegivingsbr@gmail.com to learn more.
