Well it is that time of year again! Time for that New Years resolution. Especially time and opportunity to make this the best year ever!

As we all know,  as we age it becomes even more important to keep our bodies healthy as well as maintaining a healthy brain. One way to do that is establishing a fitness routine. Performing a fitness routine just twice a week can improve strength, increase endurance, protect joints, support balance, and can also improve brain health. Yes … also improve brain health! Studies have shown that the No. 1 thing you can do to improve brain health is simply establishing a consistent fitness routine.

Now … How do we do that? Sometimes starting can feel intimidating, especially if exercise hasn’t been very consistent in the past. The key is to start with a manageable full body workout that includes strength training, light cardio, balance work, and flexibility. Twice a week can increase energy levels, support heart and brain health, reduce fall risks, and make daily tasks and activities easier.

Many can find success by working with a Certified Personal Trainer who can customize a workout plan just for you. They can also show you how to correctly use equipment and learn proper form. Most importantly a personal trainer can empower you and provide accountability and confidence so you can continue your fitness journey on your own.

Remember, this new year the goal isn’t perfection, it’s all about improvement! Whether you start slowly on your own or you work with a trained professional, what better commitment or better way to start the new year? It is never too late to improve strength, vitality, and independence! Remember, “You’ve got this!”
