The annual SaddleBrooke Health Fair is approaching on Saturday, October 15, 9:00 a.m. until noon at the HOA One Clubhouse. A new feature this year will be an Information Center. The center will be identified by the blue sign at the hostess station in front of the Vistas Dining Room. There you will find knowledgeable Health Fair volunteers ready to help with directions.
Parking is once again at the MountainView parking lot with two luxury coaches shuttling between MountainView and HOA One. Shuttles run until 1:30 p.m. to give time for lunch at the Road Runner.
Bring your expired medications and used eyeglasses for convenient drop off. Medications will be disposed of properly, and eyeglasses will be donated. Then meet your favorite exhibitors and screeners as well as new participants.
Oro Valley Hospital Mini-Seminars
Oro Valley Hospital is sponsoring two short outdoor seminars on the open patio outside the clubhouse at 9:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. The topics will be Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) by Cardiologist Dr. Anthony Galeo and Sports Injuries of the Foot and Ankle by Podiatrists Dr. Tim Short and Dr. John Powers. The doctors will be available for individual conversations after the presentations.
Immunizations and Diagnostic Lab Tests
The following immunizations, vaccines and screenings will be offered:
Flu, pneumonia and shingles vaccines
Free skin cancer screening
Vision screening for glaucoma, cataracts and more
You will need an appointment for the shingles vaccine. Call Walgreens at 520-825-7747. Ask for Brianne or Lisa to make your appointment. HealthWaves will once again offer a full spectrum of lab and allergy tests (no doctor’s order necessary) for a reasonable price. A complete list will be emailed to residents before the fair and will be posted at www.sbseniors.org.
Both Walgreens and HealthWaves will offer the following vaccines: standard flu, high dose flu and quadrivalent (preservative free) flu. The standard pneumonia shot will be available as well as the Prevnar 13® for people who have already received the original vaccine. Please check with your physician to clarify any personal medical issues. Shingles vaccines are by pre-appointment.
The Health Fair is routinely touted as one of the best by screeners and exhibitors. That reputation of excellence is due to the SaddleBrooke volunteers who make the event work smoothly. You can identify volunteers by the lime green tee shirts.
