Plant Selection and Maintenance in the Sonoran Desert

Southeast Pinal County Master Gardeners will present “Plant Selection and Maintenance in the Sonoran Desert” on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. Please join us in the SaddleBrooke Ranch Sol Ballroom for this presentation.

What is the difference between plants grown in a restoration nursery and plants grown in a typical commercial nursery? Are plants grown as clones or cultivars the same as plants grown from seed? Do you know how to incorporate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) into your garden and landscape? Which insects are beneficial, and which are truly harmful to your plants? Learn the answers to these questions and some practical strategies for successful organic pest control, the advantages of companion planting in your landscape, plant selection, and watering strategies for plant resiliency.

Presented by Amy Belk, Horticulture Manager for Pima County Native Plant Nursery. Amy has more than 20 years of nursery experience in Southern Arizona. She will share her knowledge and passion for growing for resilience and restoration in the Sonoran Desert.

We hope you can join us!
