Putters Experience Rough Conditions on the Green

January 2020, proved to be a challenging month for the Ranchette Putters. The putting green was in very rough condition, and winter weather often kept putters anxious to finish their weekly sessions and enjoy coffee in the La Mesa Room. In spite of the chilly and blustery conditions, the club welcomed 17 new members.

Many hardy ladies showed up and attended enough sessions to qualify for the club’s monthly awards. Prizes are awarded to putters with the first, second, and third lowest gross average scores, ladies who sink six or more holes-in-one and, with the use of handicaps, putters with the first, second, and third lowest net averages.

Ranchette Putters is pleased to announce our January winners. Denise Sandoval turned in the third lowest gross average of 36.500. Terry Pendy took second place with a gross average of 35.667. The first place honors went to Doris Carlin, with a top gross average score of 35.333.

Consistently being able to read the green and sink a ball with one stroke takes a lot of talent. Six putters achieved this honor in January: Mary Schlachter and Denise Sandoval each had nine holes-in-one (HOI), Evelyn Silver had eight HOI and Terry Pendy, Rita Teresi, and Anne Terrell each had seven HOI.

The club also presented awards to our net winners for the month: Anne Terrell (third place with a net average of 35.367), Janice Hynes (second place with a net average of 35.200), and Janet McElroy (first place with a net average of 35.167).

Ranchette Putters congratulates our January winners and invites all female residents of SBR to join us for a fun weekly event. Check out our bulletin board by the pro shop for more information, or contact Corky Mansmith at [email protected].
