M.C. Nelson

The SaddleBrooke Ranch Democratic Club hosted Arizona Corporation Commission Candidatesboth are running to ensure “rubber stamp” utility increases aren’t occurring.

Clara Pratte built her career on public service and is now a successful small business owner and a mom to two boys. She is running to lower costs for Arizonans, restore integrity to the Arizona Corporation Commission, strengthen consumer protections, and ensure Arizona urgently harnesses its clean energy potential before it’s too late. Clara is a member of the Navajo Nation and grew up near the Arizona/New Mexico border. Her family did not have access to utilities and running water until she was in middle schoolthis race is personal to her. She has decades of successful work advocating for tribal communities and small businesses and served under three U.S. Presidents and four Navajo Nation Presidents.

Dr. Jonathon Hill is running again; he brings a unique perspective to the Commission, drawing from an unconventional yet highly relevant background. He is a scientist and engineer and a proud Arizonan. Hill has spent the past 18 years at Arizona State University (ASU) working on several NASA space missions focused on Mars, Jupiter, and asteroids. With degrees in Aerospace Engineering and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences he will have the knowledge to help shape policy from a technical perspective along with shaping Arizona’s ability to look at advanced technologies and everyday utilities.

The club meets the third Tuesday of each month at 4:15 p.m. For information, please contact us at sbrdems@gmail.com. We hope to see you soon.
