Ranch Roots Genealogy Club to Hold Introductory Presentation

Karen Peltier

Have you ever wondered if there is someone famous (or infamous) lurking in your family tree? Have you been intrigued by the commercials about testing your DNA to find your ethnic heritage? Are you interested in your family history, but don’t know where or how to start? Then the Ranch Roots Genealogy Club’s presentation “Genealogy 101—The Basics” is for you!

The basics presentation will give you an overview of genealogical websites (both free and subscription), family history software, online trees, research methods and records, basic use of DNA, and more. The presentation will be held in the La Mesa and La Montana Rooms at the Hacienda Club, on Monday, Aug. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Ranch Roots Genealogy Club is made up of Ranch residents who enjoy researching and sharing their family history. Membership is free, and information can be accessed through GroupWorks. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m., at the La Mesa and La Montana Rooms of the Hacienda Club. Each meeting has an educational component, designed to help members produce quality and accurate research. Members are also encouraged to share their successes and discoveries. Meetings are open to all.

Start your journey into your family history on the right foot and hopefully avoid common rookie mistakes. Come join us!
