Ranchette Putters Friends Giving Tournament

Pam Engelhardt

On a very cold afternoon on Nov. 30, the Ranchette Putters hosted a Friends Giving Tournament for member couples. Couples gathered at the Hacienda to get their name tags and to find out which team and which hole to start on. There were 130 putters that met on the putting green to participate in this holiday-themed event. The men participating in the event found out the hard way that this putting tournament was no easy task. There were several cheers for those who made a hole-in-one and lots of “ohs” when they missed the cup. There seemed to be more ohs than cheers. Through the cold and chilling wind, we finally putted all 18 holes and hurried to the Ranch House Grill for a warming dinner and a lot of Hot Toddies! Donations for First Tee were collected and members then received an additional raffle ticket for their donations.

Vickie Thomson and her event crew worked hard to set up the event for all to enjoy. Raffle prizes were won by several members in attendance, with one gentleman showing off his prize of a lady’s hat to the laughter of the crowd.

The following were the tournament winners:

1st Place with an average score of 38.5 was hole number 9—Deb and Tom McCarthy, Corky and Jim Mansmith, Marie and Rami Mantoura, and Sue and Dave Marx.

2nd Place with an average score of 40.0 was hole number 1—Pat and Bill Albu, Carol and Ron Beeley, and Jackie and Ed Boll.

3rd Place with an average score of 40.16 was hole number 2—Wendy and Martin Boyer, Sandy and Rick Buonarigo, and Paula and Michael Burns.
