The SBR Horseback Riding Group rode in the late afternoon on March 11. They were on a sunset ride through the Saguaro East National Park. It was thrilling to see the beauty of tall stands of saguaros marching across the landscape in the setting sun. The views of the Rincon Mountains were equally magnificent and made everyone so glad to be in Arizona to enjoy this beautiful scenery on such a fine day.
The group of 13 riders and two wranglers had good weather as the late afternoon air was pleasantly cool. The sky was a bit overcast so the colors of the sunset were not as vivid as other occasions, but everyone enjoyed the ride. The trail ride was conducted by Chris from the Rockin’ K Ranch. The group has ridden with this stable several times this year on various trails that they offer.
This ride was the last for the spring season. In late April, it becomes a bit too warm to ride, and many of the trail horses leave for dude ranches up in Colorado for the summer. The group will resume rides in late September.
If you are interested in the group’s activities, go to the SaddleBrooke HOA website under “Things to Do,” then “Clubs.” There in the middle column is a link to the “Horseback Riding Group.” Click on it and the link will take you to a web page about the group’s activities. Over to the right side, you can see the “Read News” section for upcoming rides. If you would like to participate, simply click on the link at the top under “Contact Us,” give your name, the ride you want to join, and the time if there is a choice. The secretary, Rebecca Williams, will get back to you with a confirmation and can help with any questions you may have.
You can participate as often as you choose. All rides are one hour and at a walk, just to enjoy the scenery. All the stables used have good, quiet mounts and most rides are suitable for those who have not ridden in a while (or in some cases, a long while).
