Saddle up for fun in the fall

The SaddleBrooke Ranch Riding Group has its fall schedule ready for fun in the great outdoors. The first ride will be at nearby Pusch Ridge Stables in Catalina on Saturday morning, September 26. This ride winds through the Catalina State Park and gives a great view of the mountains. Riders often see rabbits, ground squirrels and coyotes on this ride.

The October ride is scheduled for Saturday morning, October 24, at Donnelly’s D-Spur Ranch up in Gold Canyon, just east of Mesa. This trail is through the foothills of the Superstition Mountains and offers some beautiful views of the area.

On Saturday evening, November 7, the group will hold the fourth annual Chuck Wagon Dinner at Tanque Verde Ranch. This location was very popular with the group last year. A one-hour horseback or a short wagon ride are offered followed by a delicious dinner buffet and dessert around the campfire. There is a cowboy singing during dinner, line dancing after dinner and an open bar. There is also an option for the dinner buffet only.

Our fourth ride of the season will be on Saturday, December 4, at Old Tucson Studios. This ride walks through parts of the park as well as some of the Saguaro Park area adjacent to the park. It offers nice views of the mountains in the area. If desired, riders can then enter the park at a discounted rate. The park has a “Christmas in the Old West” theme at this time of year and offers many interesting insights into what life was like in the Old West and in Tucson at Christmas in the 1870s.

All rides are conducted at a walk, just to enjoy the scenery. No experience is required, and people who have not ridden in a long time (or ever) are welcome.
