Experience the Golden Goose Fashion Show at the SBCO Fall Meeting
Nancy McCluskey-Moore
Did you know that the Golden Goose Thrift Shop divides its net proceeds between SaddleBrooke Community Outreach (SBCO) and IMPACT of Southern Arizona? Whenever you donate items to the store or buy treasures from its inventory, you are helping to support the work of both of these great local charities. Since its founding more than 20 years ago, the Golden Goose has contributed more than $21 million to these two non-profits, changing the lives of thousands of local residents.
Every year the SBCO Fall Kick-off General Meeting features the popular “Golden Goose Fashion Show.” This year’s meeting will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12 in the MountainView Clubhouse ballroom. In addition to seeing some affordably priced (but very stylish) clothing, you can learn about the wide variety of SBCO programs to feed, clothe, enrich, and educate local youngsters—and maybe be inspired to become an SBCO volunteer!
We owe a big “thank you” to Betsy Lowry, Melanie Stout, and Suzanne Marlatt Stewart, who organize this much-loved fashion show. After they decide on a theme, clothing and coordinating accessories are selected for quality and style to display some of the best things available to Golden Goose shoppers. Betsy promotes the fashion show among Golden Goose volunteers to recruit models, many of whom contribute their own fashion savvy and sense of humor to the occasion. Melanie writes the outfit descriptions and helps the models proceed to the “runway” in the order determined by Suzanne. Suzanne then serves as the show’s very stylish and engaging mistress of ceremony.
Join us at 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12 for an afternoon of humor, style, and inspiring stories—you’ll be glad you did.

In 2025, more than 230 students from Mountain Vista and Hayden Winkelman School Districts received Christmas gifts thanks to the generosity of residents.
SBCO Adopt Program Makes Christmas Brighter for Local Children
Myriam Barthole
SaddleBrooke Ranch has participated in SaddleBrooke Community Outreach (SBCO) Adopt Program in the past and continues to support this important cause. This year, the generous contributions from SaddleBrooke Ranch residents will benefit children enrolled in the Hayden-Winkelman School District. The District’s school counselors recommend families to us.
Help us make the holidays brighter for local children! We invite you to choose an angel from our tree. Each angel includes the child’s name, age, clothing sizes, and a wish list of holiday items. Let’s open our hearts and ensure our local schoolchildren have a gift to unwrap this holiday season.
The angel tree will be available in November on the following dates:
Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. to noon and Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bistro.
Friday, Nov. 13, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hacienda Club.
A reminder will appear in the weekly email blast as the dates approach.
Residents of SaddleBrooke Ranch can participate in the program in three different ways:
1. Choose an angel and return wrapped gifts to the indicated location.
2. Write a check made out to SaddleBrooke Community Outreach (SBCO). You can mail checks or deliver them in person Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., to the SBCO office at 63675 E. SaddleBrooke Blvd., Suite L, Tucson, AZ 85739.
3. Donate online at SBCO.org/make-a-donation.
A group of volunteers will deliver the gifts to the school in December, just before it closes for the holiday vacation.
SBCO is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization (Tax ID # 86-0843458), all contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Make Space by Shredding Your Old Paperwork!
Nancy McCluskey-Moore
If you are weighed down by outdated paper files, get ready to lighten your load. Bring boxes or bags of paper to the Shredding and Recycling Event on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 8 to 11 a.m. (or until the truck is full). The event, hosted by Long Realty-Golder Ranch, SaddleBrooke Community Outreach and the Beacon Foundation, will be held on the SaddleBrooke HOA One parking lot next to the bocce ball courts.
To protect your privacy, all documents are put into containers at the drop-off site. The containers are locked and transported to the Beacon facility for shredding. In addition to documents, only computer hard drives, which may still be inside computers or laptops, will be accepted for donation/recycling.
For each bag or box of items delivered for shredding or recycling, please bring $5 or five cans of food. All donations of cash or food will benefit the Tri-Community Food Bank and the Beacon Group.
For more information, please contact Long Realty at 15250 N. Oracle Road, #110 (in the Bashas’ complex) or 520–665–4200.

Last year some SBCO volunteers who work at Kids Closet on Mondays formed a Walk for Kids team and set out wearing distinctive headgear.
