One of the fastest growing clubs in SaddleBrooke Ranch, the Pickleball Association, ended the year with 152 members, an increase of 62% over the previous year. This growth has driven more club scheduled court time averaging four hours, seven days a week. Other significant accomplishments this last year included: holding the first Pickleball Festival in April; conducting several skills development clinics; an improved process for advancement testing; and an increased presence at USAPA tournament events. At tournaments, SaddleBrooke Ranch Pickleball Association has increased its recognition, not only for their “Purple” shirts and jackets (the adopted colors of the club), but also for their accomplishments on the courts.
Thanks go to president Rich Ferris and his board, Chris Jerman, Alice Ann Lenzini and Beth Berzon.
The new officers for 2015 are Chris Jerman, president; Bob Hills, vice-president; Sally Grasso, secretary; and Lon Alness, treasurer. At the December club meeting, Bob Hills reviewed the new board’s Mission Statement and proposed activities for the coming year. The new board’s first order of business is to survey the membership in order to prioritize the club’s activities in 2015.
