On Oct. 15, the new SaddleBrooke Ranch National Park Club hosted guest speaker, Charles ‘Butch’ Farabee, a retired national park ranger and author. He presented “National Parks 101,” a captivating review of the structure, function, and history of the National Park Service. The talk was interlaced with many amazing stories involving the real-life heroes who work for the Park Service. Examples included the very first female park ranger packing a gun in Yosemite Valley to the most senior ranger, working well into her nineties!
The club also worked on finalizing plans for our day trip to Tumacacori National Historical Site for an annual festival, which at the time of this writing, is planned for Dec. 7.
If you find inspiration from our national parks, just want to learn more, or want to help plan future events, please consider joining the club, send an email to [email protected], and you will be added to the club list to receive notifications of upcoming meetings and events.
