SBR: Strong—Brave—Resilient: SBR Cancer Fundraising—Where Do Your Dollars Go?

Sandy Jessop

Each October, the SaddleBrooke Ranch Cancer Support Group hosts a golf cart ride and walk to raise cancer awareness, honor survivors and their caregivers, recognize those who have lost their battle, and raise funds to help bring an end to cancer.

We ask you to support our mission in many ways, including our requests to donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Light the Night event. Many of you may question how your money is spent. Here is your answer! The following support services and financial assistance was provided in Tucson in 2022-23:

* $792,500 in co-pay assistance awarded to patients.

* 74 patients in Tucson received financial assistance through the Co-Pay Assistance Program.

* $11,500 in travel assistance provided to patients.

* $2,348,822 historical, research funding in Tucson that supports and encourages basic and translational research on all blood cancers.

* 411 patients and caregivers were served by Education and Services.

* 449 LLS community members gather online to share experiences and provide support to one another.

These numbers do not include dollars used to research the disease at the national level!

Now that you know how these funds impact our own community, we ask you to join us in helping the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Please consider a monetary contribution of any amount by going online to pages.lls.org/ltn/az/TucsonL24/sbr and selecting any team member’s name, then donate on their personal fundraising page.

Consider riding or walking with us!

Oct. 25: the SBR Team Evening Golf Cart Ride at SaddleBrooke Ranch.

Oct. 26: Team SBR: Supportive-Brave-Resilient meets at Rillito Park for a 1K walk to honor and remember all our cancer heroes and their loved ones.

Registration is free at pages.lls.org/ltn/az/TucsonL24/sbr to join either or both cancer events. You can also make an online donation of any amount using the same link!
