Larry Burchfield is 2021’s President of SaddleBrooke Ranch Pickleball Association (SBRPA). There were many changes to the club in 2020 due to the sudden appearance of the Coronavirus. Larry is hoping for a much better year in 2021 and for play and social events to return to as close to normal as possible. He also has new ideas he is waiting to implement!
Larry moved to SaddleBrooke Ranch from Casa Grande five years ago with his wife, Teresa. He has been playing Pickleball for seven years and became active in the SBRPA early on by volunteering on a number of different committees. He then served for two years as vice president. Larry encourages members to volunteer in the organization so that new ideas and new energy continually work to improve the club. Larry is very dedicated to the club spending approximately three hours per day working to ensure that all club members and residents have the opportunity to play safe and have fun on the courts. Not only is Larry the president of SBRPA, he is also spending additional time as the new president of the Bocce Ball Club.
Larry and the board have lots of new ideas and plans to make them happen. Procedures are in place to start training and skill development classes at all levels, when safe to do so. These are a high priority for Larry now that membership in the club has increased to almost 500 residents. Pickleball is by far the largest club at SBR. Further, the organized round robin and social events enjoyed in the past should be reinstated soon. Larry is working closely with the HOA to develop all of this while continuing to stay COVID safe. Larry’s motto for pickleball is “stay safe and have fun.”
Just a reminder to renew your membership if you have not done so. See you on the courts!
