Senior Softball News!

Art Rangno prepares to launch Mr. Softball into the stratosphere in Monday Recreational.

King Mitchell (aka Mitch)

Well SaddleBrooke Senior Softball fans and friends, it’s time to break out the laptop and let the electricity from my brain flow into my fingertips!

Summer League Action

Alrighty then. The Summer league started up July 15 after a twoweek break for the softballers to rest, recuperate, and stay outta the heat. A full complement of leagues, from Rec through Competitive are on slate. Not as many teams this time of year, of course, cuz the snowbirds are up north and the heat keeps a few “otherwise” regulars home watching Perry Mason or Gunsmoke.

As of this writing (July 23), we’ve had almost a week and a half of action.

On Mondays, in Recreational, Ambient Air Heating & Cooling is off to a 2-0 start, with Coyote Golf Cars in the cellar at 0-2. Then in Community (AAA ball), The Moore Advantage Realtors and Tucson Orthopaedic are tied up at 1-1.

On to Tuesdays! In Community, Twin Lake Air Conditioning and Heating is out to a 2-0 start over Waste Management. In Competitive (AAAA), Andy’s Irrigation and Tom Ottaway-State Farm are tied up at 1-1.

On Wednesdays, it’s Sidewinder only this summer and Wanda Fudge-Long Realty is 1-0, while their partners in softball mayhem, Wildfire Wings, is on the other end at 0-1.

Thursdays, it’s Coyote only (but not Coyote ugly … well … nevermind) and the 65-plussers have X-Pert Automotive at 1-0 and Window Wizards at 0-1.

On to TGI Fridays! Although most of the time I can’t tell Monday from Friday anymore. In Competitive, Splendido is 1-0 and Your CBD Store is bringing up the rear at 0-1. It’s early though folks! In Community ball, Ann Fraley-Long Realty jumped out to win the first game and are 1-0, while Beyond Clean is 0-1.

Well that’s it for now softball fans. As I said “up top,” the Summer season began July 15 and runs until Sept. 20. Our Labor Day Tournament will be Sept. 5, so be there. There should be a full day of softball action, music, food, and fun. Then the softballers will take a late September break and be back in action the second week of October or so. The snowbirds will start drifting back down from the soon-to-be-frozen north and the leagues should swell to their Fall and Winter numbers.

In the meantime, you can always come down to the field and check the softball action Monday through Friday (and the junkies are usually down practicing on Saturdays as well). Or you can surf us for information, standings, and stats at saddlebrooksoftball.com. And just a reminder for you Roundup readers up at the Ranchget on down here and check the softball action out. You are more than welcome. Mañana amigos and amigas.
