Ranch Texans Share a Texas-Sized, Texas Style Potluck

Mary Kay Voss

On Jan. 30, Ranch Texans got all cowboyed-up and gathered for a good ole Texas Potluck supper. My oh my, the amount of food was staggering, with a big ole table full of Texas King Ranch casserole, Texas caviar, Texas beans, Texas sheet cake, cornbread TX style, pecan pie, and of course, Blue Bell ice cream. In addition to the food, we played Texas Trivia and “Put the City on the Map.”

You could sure tell this wasn’t the first rodeo for Edie Hugo and husband Hal Kirman. They and Linda Zoellner were great hosts and party planners.

Didrik Voss’ daughter, Dida, and partner Lori, were down for a visit from Astoria. Dida is one heck of a good singer and graced the group with her vocals. That entertainment will be hard to top.

This group of Texans are already lookin for more fun things to do. Our calendar is getting plum-full of all sorts of Texas themed activities.

If you are without a horse, a golf cart will have to do for our Rally on April 6. Then, in just two shakes of a lamb’s tail, we’ll get together for Texas Bingo on May 22. We always have prizes and things related to Texas, of course. Stay tuned for more details.

The Texas Club is wide open to any and all who have lived in Texas, whether born or grew up, or got there as quickly as possible. The club is growing rapidly, but we always have room for more. If you want us to give you a shout, just provide your email address by going to [email protected].

Yeehaw! Remember, The Eyes of Texas are always upon you!
